DOH HIPAA HOME PAGEIn fulfilling its mission to protect and improve the health of people in Washington, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) understands and respects the privacy of the healthcare information we receive, use and disclose. We know that your confidence in our care of your health information is critical to you and essential for us to do our work. There are already very strict state laws that protect your healthcare information. Now, federal law, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), adds a few requirements for covered agencies, like DOH. Our HIPAA website includes information about the impact of HIPAA on our work inside DOH, and with our partners and colleagues in the community. Clients of our Metabolic Treatment Product Program in Newborn Screening will be especially interested in our Privacy Notice, Privacy Office and Privacy Complaint Process sites. Our community partners will find useful information on the FAQ’s and Disclosing Individually Identifiable Information to the Department of Health sites. Our Helpful HIPAA Links site is excellent jumping off point for finding information from national sources. |
