2005 Tobacco Cessation Media Campaign
"Fight the Urge"

An ongoing focus of the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program's media efforts is the promotion of the Washington Tobacco Quit Line through television, radio, newspaper, bus, and other advertising.  Ads promoting quit line that target the general adult population began running in mid-2002.  The newest ads started airing in January and will run until December.

The goal of the cessation campaign is to reach the target audience at the point of purchase or when they’re thinking of lighting up – and remind them to fight the temptation.  It is directed at ages 18-49, with some college education or less, and those in the active, contemplative, or pre-contemplative phase of quitting.

Images of some of the ads are downloadable from this page for use by  Department of Health tobacco prevention contractors.  The text or images in the ads may not be altered.  For information about the availability of other ads for print or broadcast, contact the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program at 360-236-3730.

"Stick It to Kick It" Campaign

At the beginning of 2005 a special cessation offer was made to WA residents between the ages of 18-29 called Stick It to Kick It.  It was a free program involving nicotine patches or gum and counseling sessions.  The purpose was to help smokers kick the habit!  This campaign ran from January 2005 thru February 2006.
