The Early Intervention Program provides services to help eligible persons with HIV get the health care they need to improve and maintain their health.  Our services include:

  • Prescription Medication Coverage - We maintain a formulary to treat the early stages of HIV and many related conditions.  For clients with insurance, we pay co-pay costs for medications on our formulary.
  • Medical Care - We pay for limited HIV-related provider visits and tests.  Clients must go to providers (xls,46kb) and labs that contract with us.  For clients with insurance, we cover only up to $1000 for deductibles and costs during pre-existing condition periods for services on our schedule of covered services (PDF,51kb).
  • Insurance Premium Payment Assistance - We help eligible clients get medical insurance and pay the premiums.  Individuals must first enroll into the EIP program and then also submit an application to EHIP which can be found at www.ehip.org
  • Spenddown Assistance - We pay DSHS Medicaid spenddowns up to $900 per month.
  • Medicare Part D - EIP has developed a Medicare Guidance that explains what assistance EIP can provide for client's HIV care.  You can view or download this guidance by clicking on the EIP Medicare Guidance (PDF,28kb) link to the left
  • Dental Services- Beginning 7/01/08, HIV Client Services, Early Intervention Program is expanding the EIP dental program to clients residing within King County.  Clients living elsewhere in the State have been provided this service since 1/1/08.  Clients must go to an EIP contracted providers (PDF, 19 kb) for EIP covered dental services.

Is there a cost for EIP services?
Some clients will be required to pay a monthly cost share (Doc,56 kb) to their pharmacy. This amount is based on insurance status and income level at this time.

Eligibility and services are subject to change.  Please call us for additional information at 360-236-3426 or 877-376-9316 (toll free).
