Healthy Community Environments

It is important to build and support physical, social and economic environments that make it easier for Washington residents to choose healthy foods and be physically active. Creating healthy environments will slow the increase in the proportion of adults who are obese, reduce rates of chronic disease, and improve the quality of life.  For in-depth data please go to Community Environment in Washington State

Healthy Worksite Environments

Worksites and worksite policies can have a profound impact on nutrition and physical activity in workers and can help foster sustainable behavior change. Most adults spend a substantial part of their time at work, so improving access to healthy foods and incorporating physical activity into the workplace is a promising way to increase the intake of healthy foods and enhance wellness and worker productivity. Many businesses in Washington (70%) strongly agree that physical activity and nutrition have an impact on how well employees perform their job duties.
