The Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant
is a core source of prevention funding that winds throughout the entire public health system in Washington State.

The PHHS Block Grant supports basic health issues, emerging health threats and critical prevention effort where little or no other funding is available.

Current initiatives funded in Washington State include:

  • Community grants in eight local health jurisdictions and one tribe addressing policies to promote physical activity and healthy eating.

  • An online health promotion clearinghouse, H.E.R.E. (Health Education Resource Exchange) - providing access to publications and other resources used by health promotion professionals.

  • Services to support victims of sexual assault including crisis intervention, therapy and support groups.

  • Numerous initiatives and campaigns to improve the health and safety of people in Washington State.
