Washington State HIV/AIDS Quarterly Surveillance Report Washington State diagnosed its first case of AIDS in 1982. By December 2007 there were 9,842 people reported to have HIV or AIDS. The Washington State Department of Health estimates that currently 11,000 to 12,000 are living with HIV disease in Washington State. The Washington State HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report presents information on HIV infection by year of diagnosis, gender, risk factor, and county of residence.

KB) Public Health Seattle and King County produce the HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Report along with the Washington State Department of Health. The Public Health - Seattle & King County website features the current report as well as back issues. This report offers information on HIV/AIDS disease in Seattle-King County and Washington State. It also compares Seattle-King county data to national data. Each issue includes reports about HIV prevention or HIV care services. The Seattle-based adult and child HIV/AIDS clinical trials units and the HIV Vaccine Evaluation Unit each provide articles for the report. United States Estimates of HIV Prevalence United States HIV prevalence— the total number of persons with HIV—was over 1 million at the end of 2003. About 24-27 percent (one-fourth) of people who have HIV do not know they have it. More information is on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
