Late Childhood

During the years six through ten, children establish their identities at school and with friends, away from home. School, sports, and other activities help them develop confidence in their growing skills, as well as enthusiasm for new challenges.

While learning about right and wrong, safety and responsibility, and the satisfaction that comes with hard work, your child can develop a healthy attitude of "I can!" This is a feeling that adds to a healthy childhood now, and in years to come.

Child and Adolescent Health supports programs that can reinforce these exciting new steps.
