State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI)

In 1999, MCH was awarded a State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI) Grant for 10/99-9/01.

The major goals of the grant are:

  • to assist in data collection and priority setting for MCH and Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) for the 5 Year Needs Assessment, a part of the federal MCH Block Grant,
  • to create a regular system of MCH data collection, reporting and monitoring,
  • to have this data available in order to influence MCH Block Grant planning and policy development.

An SSDI data team has been meeting to address these goals with input from DOH and other stakeholders. An annual MCH data report will be drafted for release within DOH and to local health jurisdictions and other interested groups.
