Maternal and Child Health AssessmentThe Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Assessment Unit provides data, analysis, research, surveillance, and support and management of assessment-related activities within MCH. The unit is staffed by epidemiologists, researchers and computer specialists. One major activity includes analysis of Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) data, which is obtained from a survey that goes out to new mothers in Washington State. Other work includes development of data reports, child death review data management and analysis, cluster investigations, and birth defects surveillance.
