Pesticides and Human Health: A resource for Health care
Professionals - Pesticides and Human Health, by Physicians for
Social Responsibility, contains information on pesticide links to
acute and chronic human health effects. The report includes
chapters on cancer, respiratory disease, neurological and
behavioral effects of pesticides, reproductive and developmental
effects of pesticides, the effects of pesticides on the immune
system and acute effects of pesticide exposure. Pesticides and
Human Health is written in a doctor-to-doctor manner and
references over 150 scientific studies.

Pesticide Information Center - NPIC answers inquiries from the
general public and from health care professionals about
pesticides. NPIC is a cooperative agreement between Oregon State
University and the EPA.

ExToxNet - The EXTOXNET InfoBase provides information about
pesticides. ExToxNet was developed by toxicologists and chemists
to provide unbiased information in a form understandable by the
non-expert, and to make that information fully searchable and
selectively retrievable.

National Ag Safety Database - This database was developed with
funding from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH). The information contained in NASD was contributed
by safety professionals and organizations from across the nation
to provide a national resource for the dissemination of
information; to educate workers and managers about occupational
hazards associated with agriculture-related injuries, deaths and
illnesses; to provide prevention information; to promote the
consideration of safety and health issues in agricultural
operations; and to provide a convenient way for members of the
agricultural safety and health community to share educational and
research materials with their colleagues. Some selected materials

National Pesticide Medical Monitoring Program - Oregon State
University - The National Pesticide Medical
Monitoring Program (NPMMP) is a cooperative agreement between
Oregon State University and the United States Environmental
Protection Agency. The NPMMP provides informational assistance in
the assessment of human exposure to pesticides.
Health care providers and public health
professionals who are seeking information about the clinical
toxicology of pesticides, or are investigating a suspected
exposure incident, can contact the NPMMP at

EPA Citizen’s Guide to Pest Control and Pesticide Safety - This publication teaches consumers how to control pests in
and around the home, alternatives to chemical pesticides, how to
choose pesticides, and how to use, store, and dispose of them
safely. It also discusses how to reduce exposure when others use
pesticides, how to prevent pesticide poisoning and how to handle
an emergency, how to choose a pest control company, and what to do
if someone is poisoned by a pesticide.

Bug Bombs: Overkill can be Dangerous - This brochure, produced
by Washington State Department of Health, explains how to use
total release foggers (bug bombs) safely in your home. It covers
the proper amount of fogger needed to treat a room or entire
house, a safety checklist when using a fogger, and general tips on
handling pesticides.
