Radiation Information

We have known about radiation since the discovery of X-rays and radioactivity in the 1890's. Both its harmful effects and its beneficial health uses became better known as technology advanced and radioactive materials and machine generated radiation came into wider use.

Radiation is both natural and human-made. Our surroundings, behaviors, medical needs and even our diets expose us to radiation. Controlling excessive exposure to radiation is necessary to adequately protect workers, the general public and the environment.
