Registration of X-Ray Equipment The X-Ray Control Section registers all X-ray machines in Washington. The Office of Radiation Protection’s X-Ray Program is participating in the Governor’s Enterprise Business Portal initiative to improve and simplify the licensing and registration service to Washington citizens and businesses. To do this we have partnered with the Department of Licensing (DOL) and its Master License Service (MLS). Beginning in August 2007 all new and renewal X-ray facility and equipment registrations will be handled through the DOL. MLS consolidates many business licensing and registrations by providing a one stop service for obtaining and renewing state and local licenses. MLS currently uses one application and one payment to issue one license that provides endorsements for many state licenses and permits, as well as licenses for fourteen cities at this time. The health and safety or regulatory requirements to obtain or keep your X-ray registration have not changed. If you have questions regarding health and safety issues, contact the X-Ray Program at 1-800-299-9729. To register any X-ray machine, follow the link below to the Department of Licensing's Master Business Application Web site. The link to plan review provides the steps involved to get a new medical X-ray facility registered and information on the process to submit shielding calculations.
How and when facilities and individuals should monitor is provided under personnel doses. A list of NVLP-approved dosimetry service providers is given below. Contact Phyllis Hurtado, 360-236-3239 for questions regarding registration and plan review. Contact Kelly Cameron, 509-456-3289 for questions regarding plan design.
