This page is intended to assist the 12 Puget Sound health jurisdictions with developing and writing their on-site management plans and marine recovery area strategies.  The resources listed below are maintained by the Department of Health and other agencies.  New resources will be added as they become available.

The following local health jurisdictions have onsite management plans posted on their web sites. Some of these plans have been adopted by the local boards of health; others have been finalized but not yet adopted.   (This information was last updated 6/25/07)

• Kitsap County Health District - "Water Quality Trend Monitoring Plan, Streams and Marine Waters" - November 2005.  The plan determines ongoing, long-term water quality trends for marine waters and streams in Kitsap County.  It also details the goals, objectives, and methodologies of the trend monitoring program and serves as a guide to Health District monitoring staff.

• Kitsap County Health District - "2006 Priority Area Work List for the Pollution Identification and Correction Program" - January 2006

• Low Dissolved Oxygen in Hood Canal - Extensive information about Hood Canal processes that are involved with the lack of oxygen - presented by Jan Newton, PhD, Principal Oceanographer at University of Washington and Principal Investigator for the Hood Canal Dissolved Oxygen Program's (HCDOP) Integrated Assessment and Modeling Study.

• Thurston County Health Department - Henderson Inlet On-Site Sewage System Operation & Maintenance Program - In November 2005, the Thurston County Board of Health created the Henderson Watershed Protection Area (HWPA). The purpose of the HWPA is to reduce the amount of fecal bacteria pollution in Henderson Inlet that is coming from failing septic systems. The program establishes more rigorous maintenance and inspection requirements for all septic systems within the boundaries of the watershed protection area to ensure that septic systems are working properly. The program goes into effect in 2007, and will be phased in over a 3-year period.
