Ambulatory surgical facilities provide outpatient services and use general anesthesia. Patients stay at the facility  for less than twenty-four hours.

Surgical services are invasive procedures that use a knife, laser, cautery, cytogenics, or chemicals to remove, correct, or aid the diagnosis or cure of:

•  Deformities.

•  Disease.

•  Injury.

Some types of surgical facilities are:

•  Ear, Nose, & Throat Surgery.

•  Eye Surgery.

•  Foot Surgery.

•  General Surgery.

  Gynecologic Surgery.

•  Orthopedic Surgery.

•  Plastic Surgery.

•  Stomach/Intestinal Surgery.

The following are not considered ambulatory surgical facilities:

•  Ambulatory surgical facility licensed as part of a hospital.

•  Dental offices.

•  Doctor's office where surgical procedures are conducted without general anesthesia.

•  Facilities that do not use general anesthesia.
