Initial Licensure:

A person must have a current license issued by the department before operating or advertising a transient accommodation.  A license is effective for one year from the date of issuance.

To get an initial license you must send an application to us.  It has to get to us at least 60 days before you want to open. 

The application packet includes:

• An application form, and
• A four-page self-inspection form. Please fill it out. It's a way for you to be certain you are ready to be inspected by us.

Return the application packet with:

• The licensing fee as specified in WAC 246-360-990, and
• A copy of your Master Business License (also known as Uniform Business Identifier (UBI) number).  If you would like more information about Master Business License/Uniform Business Identifier (UBI) number, we suggest you contact the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) at their website (www.dol.wa.gov/business/) or call them at (360) 664-1400.

New Construction:

Before you begin building, you will need to notify us about your plans.  Simply write us a letter and include the following information:

• A description of the construction.
• A description of how the construction will be used.
• A description of any changes in the functional use of existing constructions.
• Documentation of approvals issued by local authorities having jurisdiction.
• Other information as required by the department.
