Changes to Health Professions Fees
In 2008, the legislature authorized fee
increases for the professions the Department of Health
regulates. Fees will change August 1, 2008 for 43 health
professions. They will increase September 1, 2008 for nine
health professions. The department finalized the fee
increases after considering extensive public comments.
Under state law, each profession must be
self-supporting through the fees that each practitioner
pays. The number of licensees in a profession and the cost
of administering the profession affect fees. Costs include
credentialing and background checks, expenses for
boards/commissions/committees, complaints received,
investigations, and discipline.
Interested persons can join a
profession’s listserv to receive regular updates for their
profession.
