The Governor's Steering Committee on EMS and Trauma Services:

The governor-appointed, thirty member Steering Committee on EMS and Trauma Systems consists of representatives from surgeons and physicians, hospitals, prehospital providers, firefighters, local health departments, consumers and other affected groups. The Committee also utilizes nine technical advisory committees (TACs) with over 150 members from various disciplines. The Steering Committee provides guidance and direction to the state office in its development of the trauma system.

Responsibilities of the EMS and Trauma Care Steering Committee include:

  • Advise DOH regarding EMS and trauma care needs throughout the state;
  • Review regional EMS and trauma care plans and recommend changes to DOH before the Department adopts the plans;
  • Review proposed departmental rules for EMS and trauma care; and
  • Recommend modifications in rules regarding EMS and trauma care.

The Department of Health provides regular data presentation to the EMS and Trauma Steering Committee. These presentations cover various topics from meeting to meeting, with a major focus on trauma system performance and evaluation. The EMS and Trauma Care Licensing and Certification Advisory Committee
:

The Department of Health appointed, EMS and Trauma Care Licensing and Certification Committee, advises the state on administrative rules pertaining to prehospital provider licensing and certification.  The Committee consists of representatives from the EMS and trauma care system, including:  Physicians, EMS providers; a city or county EMS system administrator, the EMS and Trauma Care Steering Committee, and consumers.

Responsibilities of the EMS Licensing and Certification Advisory Committee include:

  • Reviewing all administrative rules pertaining to licensing and certification proposed for adoption by DOH under RCW 18.71 or 18.73 and advise DOH of its recommendation;
  • Assisting DOH, at the Department’s request, to fulfill any duty or exercise any power under RCW 18.73 pertaining to EMS licensing and certification.
