Transient Accommodations

Annual License Renewal:

A licensee must apply for license renewal annual on or before the expiration date of the current license.  You can send the payment by mail.  Be sure that your correspondence is postmarked no later than midnight of the license expiration date.  Our office is open 8-4:30 if you need to bring the payment in personally.  For renewals, we need:

  • A "Notice to Renew" on a form provided by the department will be mailed to you.
  • The licensing fee specified in WAC 246-360-990.

We will mail you our "Notice to Renew" about 45 days before your current license runs out.  At this time, we do not have any way for you to pay your fees on the web or over the phone.

An applicant must pass, to the satisfaction of the department, an on-site survey prior to the department issuing an initial license or reinstating an invalid license.

Send the completed "Notice to Renew" along with your fee to:

Department of Health
Revenue Section
PO Box 1099
Olympia, WA 98507-1099

Our phone number is 1-800-771-1204

Fees are based on the number of lodging units offered.

Late Renewals:

If you do not get your "Notice to Renew" and fee to us by the time listed on your renewal notice, this is what will happen:

  • 15 days after a license runs out we send out a late notice.
  • 35 days after the license runs out, the license is no longer good, and all business related to providing accommodations must stop.
  • On the 36th day after the license runs out, we send out an overnight notice or fax to stop operations.
  • If we learn someone is still operating 37 days after a license runs out, we inform all local officials and the press that the facility is operating illegally.
  • If someone has a problem meeting the timeline, we want them to call us and talk about it.

Late Fee:  A late fee of $52.90 in addition to the full license fee will be required if the full license fee is not received by the department on the expiration date.
