members, employees and subcontractors of the Health Department shall not: Use
or give the appearance of using their positions for the personal gain of
themselves or those with whom they have family, business or other ties. Receive,
accept, take, seek or solicit, directly or indirectly, anything of economic
value as a gift, gratuity or favor from any person or from any officer or
director of such person, if they have reason to believe the donor would not
give the gift, gratuity or favor but for their position with the Health
Department. ·
Receive, accept, take, seek or
solicit, directly or indirectly, anything of economic value as a gift,
gratuity or favor from any person or from any officer or director of such
person, if they have reason to believe such person: a)
Has or is seeking to obtain contractual or other business or other financial
relationships with the Department; b)
Conducts operations or activities which are regulated by the Department; or c)
Has an interest, which may be substantially affected by the performance or
nonperformance of official duties. ·
Use the powers or authority
associated with their position with the Health Department to induce or
coerce anything of economic value from others directly or indirectly. ·
Have a beneficial interest, directly
or indirectly, in any contract, sale, lease or purchase that may be made by,
through or under their authority, in whole or in part, or accept, directly
or indirectly, any compensation, gratuity or reward from any other person
beneficially interested therein. ·
Use any person, money or property
under their official control, custody or direction for their own private
gain or benefit. When
a Board member, employee or subcontractor of the Health Department believes
a condition or situation may arise which presents a conflict of interest or
other situations contrary to the preceding, he/she shall so state and take
such steps as are necessary to eliminate the situation or suspend their
powers, influence or authority from affecting, directly or indirectly, the
situation.
