Additional Information for LHJs

IT Specification and Guidelines

Hardware and Software recommendations

Making sure that DOH, local health jurisdictions and other public health partners can communicate during an emergency is an essential part of our preparedness efforts. WEDSS identifies what tools and resources are necessary to make that happen and, where possible, provides those tools and resources.

WEDSS provides on-site assessments to make sure that all local health jurisdictions:

  • have sufficient and secure access to the WEDSS applications;
  • have necessary infrastructure and security;
  • have sufficient and up-the-date equipment (servers, firewalls, routers, etc.).
  • receive formal information technology training when needed.

After an "on-site assessment" is performed, WEDSS will often provide funding to the local health jurisdictions (LHJs) for the most common improvements like additional servers, routers, firewall and firewall training, and SPAM appliances/software.
